MY BUILDING PROCESS:
As a custom woodworker every project I tackle is a little different. However, I try to stick to this 5 step process.
Step One: Meeting
It all starts with a meeting. Typically, our first meeting will be in person, either at the project site, or at my shop. However, a phone call or online conversation and some basic measurements can work in some cases. During this meeting we discuss the purpose and scope of the project. I also ask questions to learn about your needs for this project as well as your desired aesthetic.
Step Two: Design
I develop a preliminary design. During this process I ask that you be open to questions. This helps me design more precisely to your needs. This step usually takes between 1 and 5 days, or longer if the project is very complex.
Step Three: Another Meeting
At this point I present my preliminary design. We go over the details which may include hand sketches, Computer-Aided Design (CAD) drawings, wood or stain samples, pictures of previous jobs, etc. Anything to help you visualize your project. If you would like any changes made to the design, I am happy to do so at this point. This step can be done via email if that is preferred. There is no charge or obligation to this point.
Step Four: Construction Begins
Once we have finalized the design and agreed upon a contract, construction begins. I collect an initial deposit at this point. This can take anywhere from a few days to a few months depending on the size of the project and my current backlog.
Step Five: Installation and delivery
After your project has been built, I will deliver it, or start the installation process. Installation is an exciting time; this is when the project comes to life. This step can take as little as 1 day or up to several weeks. After all final adjustments and details have been made, the project is finished and ready for you to enjoy.
